"Gunfight" by Adam Winkler

America's four-centuries-long political battle over gun control and the right to bear arms is the subject of Adam Winkler’s book, Gunfight. Winkler uses the landmark 2008 case District of Columbia v. Heller, which invalidated a law banning handguns in the nation's capital, as a springboard for a historical narrative.

From the Founding Fathers and the Second Amendment to the origins of the Klan, ironically as a gun control organization, the debate over guns has always generated controversy. Winkler weaves together the stories of gun rights advocates and gun control lobbyists, providing insights into ongoing, often venomous debate over guns.

Adam Winkler is a professor of constitutional law at the University of California.

Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
