Great Barrington, Massachusetts is once again eyeing the former Housatonic School for redevelopment – this time for housing.

The town Select Board has approved the start of negotiations for a public-private partnership with Grayhouse Partners. The Berkshire Eagle reports Grayhouse has proposed four two-bedroom apartments and two one-bedroom apartments as well as space for nonprofits.

Rent from tenants would generate revenue for the town.

The town has sought to repurpose the school building since it closed in 2004.
