The town of Great Barrington, Massachusetts is taking steps to respond to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Southern Berkshire County community of around 7,000 has suspended all non-essential town meetings until further notice, suspended activities at the town’s senior center, and is discouraging residents from hosting or attending large public gatherings.
Great Barrington is also suspending its ban on the sale of single-use plastic water bottles.
“It isn’t necessarily the safest thing to have to use refillable, reusable bottles at this time," said Selectboard member Ed Abrahams. "For some people, they’re difficult to clean.”
The town has established a COVID-19 response group to monitor the outbreak and determine the next steps Great Barrington will have to take to keep up with it.
