A body has been recovered from the Hudson River, where a tugboat sank Saturday morning after colliding with a barge near the Tappan Zee Bridge.
The body of 29-year-old Timothy Conklin was found by state police divers on Sunday. The body of 62-year old Paul Amon was identified Saturday. Another individual was still unaccounted for Sunday afternoon.
Speaking Sunday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the incident appears to be a tragic accident.
"Sometimes dealing with emergencies you wonder if Mother Nature is trying to send us a signal or tell us something. Sometimes it's just a pure accident, and that's what this occurs to be. Just a pure accident," said Cuomo.
The tugboat, which was towing a barge that is part of the new Tappan Zee Bridge construction project, is resting beneath 35 to 40 feet of water. The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has been working to contain diesel fuel from the submerged vessel.
