Fulton County Sheriff: Man Killed Self In Stolen Truck

According to police, a man killed himself in a stolen pickup truck outside of a Fulton County convenience store Saturday.

Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino said in a press release that a truck reported stolen from a Northampton, New York residence was spotted outside of a Stewart’s Shop in the Town of Mayfield around 8 p.m. 

Inside the vehicle was a single male occupant displaying a shotgun.
 
Authorities reportedly surrounded the vehicle and a sheriff's deputy attempted to talk the subject into surrendering for approximately 30 minutes before the man committed suicide.
 
The decesaed has been identified as 47-year-old David Draffen of Northville. According to the sheriff's office, Draffen was on parole and had recently been released from a state facility.
