Four people are dead following a one-car crash in Saugerties late Wednesday morning.

The dead, all men in their mid-20s, were Ulster County residents.

The fatal victims were identified as Jante Clark, 26, of Kingston; Dante Crump, 22, of Kingston; Adam McQueen, 22, of Ulster Park and Kaireem Meeks, Jr., 24, of Kingston. They were in a car driven by Meredith McSpirit, 19, of Kingston, who was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with a spinal injury. She is in the intensive care unit.

Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said the car missed a curve in the road.

“The vehicle had failed to negotiate a turn southbound on Washington Avenue onto Montgomery Street and continued straight approximately 100 to 150 feet across a private drive and then down an embankment approximately 110 feet landing on its roof on Dock Street,” Sinagra said.

The vehicle also struck a residence at 76 Dock Street causing extensive damage to the residence.  The house was deemed uninhabitable by the town building inspector.

The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is aiding in the investigation into the cause of the crash, one of the worst Sinagra said he has seen in his career as a police officer.

GoFundMe page, to raise money for funeral expenses, was established Wednesday evening.
