Former NFL Receiver Delivers Speech In Newburgh For United Way

A former New York Giants player is in Newburgh Friday morning, to help kick off a campaign for the common good.

Former Giants star receiver Amani Toomer will be at the Newburgh waterfront to deliver the keynote speech for the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region’s “Campaign for the Common Good.” The theme for the 2013-2014 year is “Imagine the Possibilities.” The National Football League has partnered with not-for-profit United Way for 40 years, and Toomer served as the Giants 2003 United Way spokesman. Toomer will talk about the importance of determination, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Other speakers at the breakfast at Torches on the Hudson include City of Newburgh Mayor Judy Kennedy and Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro. United Way directs resources to programs in the community.
