A Former County Legislator Is Sentenced

A former Rockland County legislator who resigned from his position after pleading guilty to election fraud was sentenced Thursday.

The plea deal for Frank Sparaco involves spending eight weekends in the county jail and three years’ probation, according to local media reports. Sparaco in February pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of filing with the Rockland County Board of Elections nominating petitions that contained false statements and information regarding the addresses of the individuals he was designating for various positions in the Town of Clarkstown Republican Party. The charges were originally felonies. The conditions of Sparaco’s probation include a ban on holding public office as well as a ban on actively participating in a political party, either directly or indirectly.
