Former County Legislator For Beacon Dies

A former Dutchess County legislator who once lived in Beacon, has died at the age of 87.

Jack Dexter, known as “Dex,” died at his home in Parkland, Florida August 8. He was elected to the Dutchess County Legislature for three terms, serving both as assistant majority leader and assistant minority leader of the Democratic caucus. Also according to his obituary, Dexter had worked for IBM East Fishkill in Community Relations and was granted a leave of absence for 1985 and 1986 to work with Lieutenant Governor Al DelBello and Governor Mario Cuomo on the early development of Stewart International Airport. Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has instructed flags at all county facilities to fly at half-staff until Thursday.
