People wishing to comment on potential environmental impacts of a proposed pipeline that would run through Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and New Hampshire now have until October 16th to do so.The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission announced last week it was extending the comment period and recently settled on the October date. Kinder Morgan is proposing a 400-plus mile natural gas pipeline that would run through New York’s Capital Region and the Berkshires en route to eastern Massachusetts. The company submitted thousands of pages of information days before a public hearing in Pittsfield prompting State Representative Paul Markto call for a public comment period extension.
“In this short amount of time it is simply impossible for citizens, organizations and experts to properly analyze and comment on the environmental and economic impacts of this project.”
FERC is holding another public hearing in New Hampshire Sept. 29th.
