With a recent measles outbreak in the news and the on-going opioid addiction crisis, it is an opportune time to bring attention to public health resources.

Springfield, Massachusetts is observing April as Public Health Month.

Local organizations will hold events throughout the month to highlight public health issues and bring attention to services that are available.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with the City of Springfield’s Commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services Helen Caulton-Harris.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
