Etsy Files $100 Million IPO

ETSY (Hudson)

A decade after it was founded in a Brooklyn apartment as a way to sell handmade goods online, Etsy has filed for an IPO .

Founded in 2005, Etsy Inc. filed for an initial public offering March 4th, applying to trade on Nasdaq under the symbol “ETSY.”

Fortune.comsays the company could be valued in the public markets at $2 billion and said in filing Wednesday it hopes to raise $100 million in the offering, although that amount is likely a placeholder. Etsy has a brick-and-mortar facility in Columbia  County, located at The Cannonball Factory on Columbia Street in Hudson.
