Environmental Activists On 130 Mile Walk Across Massachusetts

WAMC

Activists who have been fighting for five years to stop construction of a gas-fueled power plant in Westfield, Massachusetts set off on a cross-state walk today. It is a seven-day 130 mile walk that is scheduled to end next Friday in New Bedford where an environmental conference is being held. WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Mary Ann Babinski of Westfield Concerned Citizens.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
