Dutchess County Receives Grant To Hire Public Health Advisors

Aug 27, 2020

A grant from New York state will help a county in the Hudson Valley bolster its public health team in the fight against COVID-19.

The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health (DBCH) has been awarded a $917,000 grant from the state Department of Health to further build capacity for COVD-19 case investigation and contact tracing coordination. The grant funding will enable the department to hire five public health advisors, including a senior supervisor, for up to 18 months. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says adding these positions is important particularly as schools reopen. The grant funding comes at a critical time as local health departments take on an ever-increasing workload and the annual flu season approaches.
