Dr. Alan Chartock's Morning Commentary

WAMC's Dr. Alan Chartock comments on reports that New York has become the 13th state to allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver's licenses, after Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the so-called "Green Light Bill" Monday night.

He also discusses reports that the U.S. will deploy more troops to the Middle East, and Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit North Korea before meeting with President Trump. Also in the headlines: President Trump is set to officially kick off his 2020 campaign in Florida.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
