After ruling out a run for president nearly a year ago, former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is reportedly having second thoughts.

The New York Times said Patrick is strongly considering a run for president and has been talking with Democratic donors and operatives.

Elected in 2006, as the state’s first black governor, Patrick left office in 2015.

His approval ratings were high then, according to Tim Vercellotti, director of the polling institute at Western New England University.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
