DA Announces Guilty Pleas In A Newburgh Beating Death

The Orange County District Attorney has announced there have been guilty pleas in connection with the beating death of a man in Newburgh.

Orange County D.A. David Hoovler says 28-year-old Richard Vallejo, a/k/a “Rico,” and 30-year-old Kelsin Rivera, of Newburgh, pleaded guilty in connection with the March 30 beating death of a 48-year-old man who they attacked on Lake Street in the city. Vallejo pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, and Rivera pled guilty to second-degree assault. When the two are sentenced on September 9, Vallejo is expected to receive a twenty-year prison sentence and Rivera, four years in prison.
