Cuomo Announces New York-Israel Commission

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the creation of a New York-Israel Commission to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the Empire State and Jewish state.

The Democratic governor, who is currently on a diplomatic trip to Israel, says members are working to make the “partnership stronger than ever before.”

The 22-member commission will work to share best practices for counter-terrorism operations and support academic and research exchanges.

Mort Zuckerman, Former CEO of Boston Properties and Owner & Publisher of the New York Daily News and the U.S. News and World Report, has been appointed as honorary chair of the board.

Co-chairs include Allen Faigin, Malcolm Hoenlein, Linda Mirels, and President, CEO & Commissioner of Empire State Development Howard Zemsky.

Cuomo is scheduled to return to New York on Monday.
