New York Governor Andrew Cuomo appeared in Saranac Lake Sunday to promote winter tourism in the Adirondacks.

The Democrat announced a free snowmobiling weekend will take place March 14th and 15th. During the weekend, registration fees will be waived for out-of-state snowmobilers.

“Snowmobiling is just another great way to be here. That’s all it is. I don’t care if you come hiking, if you come fishing, if you come birdwatching, just come and be here. And in the winter, snowmobiling is just another way to be here.”

The governor announced $4 million in grants to local snowmobile associations to support trail maintenance, in addition to the $4 million I Love New York ad campaign currently underway to boost winter tourism in the state. New York has more than 10,000 miles of snowmobile trails.
