County Exec Comments on NYS Senate Candidate's Pullout

After a Republican candidate this week announced he was withdrawing from the race for a New York state Senate seat in the Hudson Valley, the Dutchess County executive who supported him weighs in.

Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Rob Rolison announced he was pulling out of the race for the 41st Senate District, citing too many about personal attacks than a focus on the future of the state and Republican Party. Here’s Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.

“I’ve always been a supporter, was a supporter, of Rob’s, and will assess the lay of the land and see what happens next,” says Molinaro. “I’m not sure how the Party’s going to react nor which candidate ends up being either the Party selection or remains in a primary, but knowing all of them, I’ll take some time, as Rob did,  to put some thought to what happens next.”

Three GOP hopefuls looking for the chance to unseat Democratic Senator Terry Gipson are Dutchess County Comptroller Jim Coughlan; City of Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkazyik; and Dutchess County Legislator Sue Serino.
