Federal, state and local authorities raided nine stores in Rensselaer County for alleged SNAP benefit abuse.

Officials say they seized EBT machines, EBT cards, marijuana, untaxed cigarettes, business records and cash. According to the Rensselaer County Facebook page, approximately 40 officers participated in the enforcement action at the seven small grocery stores in Troy and two in East Greenbush.

The raids were a result of investigations conducted by various agencies including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rensselaer County Department of Social Services, and the Troy Police an East Greenbush Police Departments.
