There also are cooling locales throughout Orange and Dutchess Counties. Westchester County Executive George Latimer is keeping county pools and beaches open an extra hour Saturday and Sunday, until 7:30 p.m. In Sullivan County, officials recommend people go to local libraries or public pools, lakes and rivers for relief from the heat.
