Connecticut environmental officials are asking campers from neighboring states not to bring in their own firewood into campsites.
Environmental Protection officials warn say bringing in firewood can spread invasive pests like the Asian Longhorned Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer, which spend much of their lifecycle as larvae inside tree limbs and branches.
The nearest infestation of the Asian Longhorned is within 30 miles in Massachusetts, where more than 34,000 trees have been affected and cut down.
Connecticut has been ravaged by the Ash Borer and restricts moving untreated firewood out-of state to New York and Rhode Island.
