Coast Guard Museum Agreement To Be Signed In Conn.

State and local officials will be gathering in New London, Connecticut to celebrate an agreement to develop the National Coast Guard Museum in the city.

The ceremony is set for Wednesday morning at Union Station. Expected to attend are Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, New London Mayor Daryl Finizio, Coast Guard Admiral Robert Papp, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Congressman Joe Courtney and James Coleman, chairman of theNational Coast Guard Museum Association.

Officials will be signing the development agreement, which spells out how the state and city will support the development, design review and approval of the planned four-story, 54,300-square-foot facility. The state and city also have agreed to help the museum with permits, zoning and other approvals.

The state has pledged $20 million toward the project.
