Climate Action Plan Is Being Made For Springfield

Once one of the biggest sources of air pollution in the Pioneer Valley, the Mount Tom Power Plant shut down in 2014 and solar panels are being installed on part of the property.

Public input is being sought for a climate action plan for the city of Springfield, Massachusetts.  The Springfield Climate Justice Coalition is holding a series of community meetings.

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission is going to undertake a formal community input process in the coming months. 

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with a participant in the planning process, Jesse Lederman, Environmental Organizer with Arise for Social Justice.
