This holiday season, Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany presents A Christmas Story: The Musical.

The Chinese food, the Red Ryder BB gun, the frozen pole, and the leg lamp are all there in this musical based on the classic 1983 movie, which itself was based on stories by legendary radio humorist Jean Shepherd. The show features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Joseph Robinette. Maggie Mancinelli Cahill directs.

Preview performances for A Christmas Story: The Musical take place November 27th through the 29th. Opening night is Tuesday, December 1.

The show has roots at theREP. The hit Broadway team of composer/lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul received an early career lift when Capital Repertory Theatre premiered Edges: The Musical as part of The Biggest Little International Play Festival in 2007.

Here to tell us more are Jake Goodman, who plays Ralph (the role is split with Oliver Nathanielsz), Gary Lindemann, who plays The Old Man and Freddy Ramirez, the show’s choreographer.

Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
