Cheshire parents consider moving children out of district.

Residents of the Town of Cheshire, Massachusetts are struggling to choose what school their children will go to when the local elementary school closes next year.

The School Committee voted earlier this month to close Cheshire Elementary. School children will be moved to C.T. Plunkett Elementary in Adams for more space and to save the district about $100,000.

The Berkshire Eagle reported some parents may opt to send their children out of district instead. Many residents are unhappy with the School Committee where they have a minority representation.

The town could pick up the responsibility of funding the elementary school on its own through a 17 percent increase to the tax levy.
