Brooklyn Makes Its Democratic Convention Pitch

Brooklyn is rolling out the red — make that blue — carpet for the Democratic convention.

City officials are hosting a committee from the Democratic National Committee on Monday and Tuesday in hopes of winning the party's 2016 presidential convention.

Sen. Charles Schumer led a rally outside the Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn. The arena would host the convention and had an appropriately hued welcome carpet for the committee.

Schumer said the convention would be a "great thing" for the borough.

Brooklyn is considered one of the favorites to land the convention along with Philadelphia, PA and Columbus, Ohio.

A decision is expected by early next year.
