UPDATE: As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Town Lenox Town Manager Christopher Ketchen says service has been restored.
Lenox public works employees are attempting to fix a water main break that has left some 200 customers without water. Town Manager Christopher Ketchen says the leak was discovered Tuesday night around 10 when the town shut off water. Workers found the source near the intersection of Housatonic Street and High Street around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.
“If the situation persists we’re taking steps to supply the affected residents with bottled water,” Ketchen said. “However, hopefully we’ll be able to get water service back shortly.
Service is expected to return by the end of Wednesday. Ketchen says the break, the third one this winter, is believed to be caused to cold temperatures. While the Cameron House, a senior living facility was affected, Ketchen says it has water for its residents. Another living facility, Morgan Manor, is also without water. Bottled water is available at Lenox Town Hall.
