Bethel Woods Launches Project For Students

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Sullivan County, New York, is starting a project to help students be creative and feel connected.

The initiative is called “Growing Hope.” Bethel Woods and Sullivan Renaissance will provide flower-growing kits and art supplies to school students who are home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kits will be distributed at the end of April for pickup at various schools. The community will be invited later in the season to plant a peace garden at the historic Woodstock festival site later in the year. Bethel Woods is located at the festival site. The project’s goal is to strengthen the personal and communal connections that have been weakened by social isolation to retain creativity, positivity and productivity. A webpage has been created that includes painting inspiration, a place to share information about how one’s plant is growing, and additional creative activities to do at home.
