Bernie Sanders' stepdaughter is running for mayor of Burlington, Vermont, the same office that was the starting point for the independent U.S. senator's political career.
Carina Driscoll announced her candidacy on Monday. She is a former city council member and ex-state legislator, and she says she will run as an independent.

Driscoll says she will work to bring Burlington "to again be that vibrant, forward-thinking city where we are all so proud to live."

Last Friday community organizer Infinite Culcleasure was the first candidate to announce a campaign for mayor.  He will also run as an independent.

Democratic Mayor Miro Weinberger is expected to seek re-election to a third three-year term in March.
