Berkshire County District Attorney David Capeless is scheduled to take the oath of office marking the start of his third full term Tuesday.
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney appointed Capeless in 2004 following the sudden death of District Attorney Gerard Downing. Capeless, a Democrat, won a special election that fall and has run unopposed twice since. His office saw three life sentences in the murder trials of Adam Lee Hall, David Chalue and Caius Veiovis over the past year. He’s also made the opiate epidemic a top priority.
“I want to see every opioid medication have on the side of it, ‘side effects include…loss of friends and families, criminal behavior, incarceration and death,” said Capeless.
The public is invented to attend the ceremony set for 3 p.m. at Berkshire Superior Court in Pittsfield.
