Groups in Berkshire County are working to make sure the westernmost region of Massachusetts is ready to be counted in this year’s federal census. Mark Maloy of the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission oversees the Berkshire County Complete Count Committee, an organization of around 50 communities around the Berkshires. He spoke to WAMC about what’s at stake in the 2020 census for the county, and how the committee is working to turn out the most accurate count possible.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
