Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker will be in the Berkshires Friday to announce new housing rehabilitation grants for gateway communities.

The Republican will appear at Pittsfield city hall, according to city Director of Administrative Services Roberta McCulloch-Dews.

“The city of Pittsfield is pleased to host Governor Charlie Baker and state officials on Friday, February 28th for a Gateways Housing Rehabilitation Awards Announcement at city hall, and it will take place at noon,” she told WAMC.

26 municipalities in Massachusetts are designated as Gateway communities, including Pittsfield. They’re categorized as post-industrial urban areas facing economic and social challenges that hinder recovery.
