Author To Discuss Lives Of Holocaust Survivors At Great Barrington Event

On Friday, the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires is hosting a talk with journalist and author Joseph Berger about the experiences of Holocaust survivors who came to America. A New York Times reporter for more than three decades, Berger details his and his family’s experiences in New York City in the book Displaced Persons: Growing Up American After the Holocaust. Born in Russia in 1945, Berger spent the postwar years in displaced persons camps in Germany before moving to the U.S. in 1950. In an interview with WAMC, Berger says his family’s story mirrors those of the 140,000 Holocaust survivors who came to America in late 1940s and early 1950s.

Friday’s talk at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire in Great Barrington is open to the public. It starts at 10:45 a.m.
