Iris Dawn Parker is an artist, educator, and activist currently living in Johannesburg, South Africa. She’s spending about two weeks in Berkshire County this month at the invitation of the local branch of the NAACP, Williams College, Miss Hall’s School, MCLA, Jacob’s Pillow, and the city of Pittsfield. She spoke with WAMC Berkshire Bureau Chief Josh Landes about the intersection of creativity, human rights, and working with young people.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
