THIS WEEK'S CATEGORY: FOOTBALL PLAYS
On-air questions: Well Mike, if you were looking for a sign of American resilience during this wretched 2020, the NFL season kicked off last night with the Texans and Chiefs on Thursday Night Football, followed by a full slate of games on Sunday, despite lingering questions over health, safety and racial justice. In honor of your fantasy drafts and pick’em leagues, today’s quiz is all about football plays.

1. A two-word phrase that New York Senator Chuck Schumer used to describe the selection of Sarah Palin to be John McCain’s running-mate in the 2008 campaign, or, perhaps most famously, a 48-yard pass from Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie to Gerard Phelan in 1984.
2. First written in 1883 to raise funds, a poem by Emma Lazarus was affixed to what 305-foot tall landmark 20 years later?
3. In a standard Uno deck, what is missing from the following list? Skip, Draw Two, Wild, Draw Four.
4. What compound word, used in football to describe a play where the quarterback and a blocker head out of the pocket for a running or passing play, can also be applied to an unofficial concert recording or alcohol made in the U.S. between 1920 and 1933?
5. A passing play toward the middle of the field, what word is also found in the names of news outlets serving Pittsburgh, Denver, and St. Louis?

Extra credit
1. What exciting trick play featuring a completed pass to a receiver and a quick dump-off to a second offensive player shares its name with a type of firefighting truck?
2. In football, this word refers to a defensive rush, especially of the quarterback; in history, it refers to a period in London that lasted from September 1940 until the following May.

This week's challenge
Four NFL teams share their name with a franchise from one of the other three major North American sports – the NHL, NBA and Major League Baseball. What are the four teams? As a hint, two share a home stadium.

The Statue of Liberty (in 2019, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Ken Cuccinelli suggested an update to Emma Lazarus’ poem, “The New Colossus,” saying: “Give me your tired, your poor who can stand on their own two feet and who will not become a public charge.” The football play gets its name from the fact that the quarterback hides the ball behind his back while miming a throw, resembling Lady Liberty during the misdirection)
3. Reverse (a standard Uno deck has eight Reverse cards; in football, a reverse is when a runner in the backfield hands the ball off a second time to a runner heading in the opposite direction, hoping to blow by the off-balance defense)
