Just as the summer recreation season is beginning, the Connecticut River Watershed Council has launched an online site for people to check if the river contains high amounts of bacteria that could potentially cause illness.

Water samples are tested regularly from more than 147 sites along the Connecticut River and many tributaries.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Andrea Donlon, the council’s Massachusetts River Steward.
