New York Gov. Hochul announces "parameters of conceptual" budget deal, two weeks after deadline

With Amedore Retiring, A Third Democrat Eyes NYS Senate Seat

Gary Greenberg

A child victim’s advocate says he’s exploring a run for the New York state Senate seat held by Republican George Amedore. Amedore recently announced he is not seeking reelection.

Gary Greenberg said on Wednesday that he will create an exploratory campaign committee for the seat. So far, two other Democrats are running — Michelle Hinchey and Jeff Collins. Greenberg, of Greene County, spent the last five years fighting to have the Child Victims Act enacted, which it was in New York earlier this year. The New Baltimore resident is the founder of Fighting for Children Political Action Committee and Protect New York Kids, a nonprofit created to assist child victims in New York. The 46th District includes parts of Albany, Schenectady and Ulster Counties, and all of Montgomery and Greene Counties.
