For the fourth time, Richard Alcombright will be sworn in as mayor of North Adams for a two-year term.Friday’s inauguration comes after a heated election season in which Alcombright faced an impassioned challenge from the man he ousted from office in 2009 – 25-year mayor John Barrett. Alcombright says his main focuses are opening Colegrove Park Elementary School and the city budget.

“But the fun stuff are some of the development projects we’ve got going on over at the west end of the city,” Alcombright said. “The Greylock Mill, Redwood Mill and Blackinton Mill projects.”

Friday’s ceremony includes the swearing-in of the mayor, city council and members of the North Adams and McCann school committees. The 11 a.m. event at City Hall is open to the public.
