Albany Councilman Speaks Out Against 'Conversion Therapy'

11th Ward Council Member Judd Krasher

One form of so-called "conversion therapy" has captured the attention of an Albany councilman -

Treatments purported to convert lesbians and gay men to heterosexuality will be outlawed if 11th Ward Councilman Judd Krasher has anything to say about it - he's planning to introduce an ordinance banning the practice of gay restorative therapy in the City of Albany. The proposal is gaining support: 10th  Ward Councilwoman and Chair of the Public Safety Committee Leah Golby says “Three years after the historic passage of marriage equality, the sexual orientation change efforts should not be a fleeting thought for anyone in our city, and banning the practice in Albany is the right thing to do.”  If adopted, Albany will become the first municipality in the State of New York to take such action to ban the controversial practice.
