Albany International Airport is receiving federal funding for an upgrade.

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Paul Tonko tuesday announced that Albany International Airport will receive nearly $4 Million dollars in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for vital airport upgrades.

The federal money will be used to rehabilitate the existing Runway, the pavement of which is nearing the end of its useful life.  The funding will be issued as a multi-year grant and dispensed with $1.2 Million dollars in fiscal year 2014 funding. The remaining money will be added through amendments which are subject to future appropriations through fiscal year 2015.
