Researchers keeping track of loon populations in the Adirondacks are looking for help from volunteers.

The Wildlife Conservation Society's Adirondack Program is looking for loon counters for Saturday, July 15. Volunteers head to an Adirondack lake and report on the number of adult and young loons they see.

Participants choose which Adirondack lake they want to survey when they sign up for the 17th Annual Adirondack Loon Census.

The census helps researchers collect data about the status of the breeding loon population and helps guide wildlife management decisions.

People interested in volunteering can visit the web site www.wcsadirondacks.org, call 518-891-8874 or email wcsaccp@gmail.com.
