BILLBOARD - Susan Barnett (Music Out)

(:40)

There have been recent articles discussing Michelle Obama's influence on her husband's presidency. But there's another influential woman in Barack Obama's life his mother. Stanley Ann Dunham led an unconventional life, but New York Times writer Janny Scott has authored a biography that argues understanding that life offers clues to the Obama presidency, and its policies.

Janny Scott is the author of A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mother. It is published by Penguin.

Coming up, is the Occupy Movement done - or is it dug its way into the cultural bloodstream? And what if you threw out your diet book and just decided to be healthier? The tent cities that were the signatures of the Occupy Movement are gone - but the movement is still very much alive. With a new strategy that focuses on issues, including the election, and the spread of the movement to places like Nigeria, feminist.com founder Marianne Schnall considers what the future will be for the Occupy Movement.

Marianne Schnall is the founder of feminist.com and the author of Daring to Be Ourselves: Influential Women Share Insights on Courage, Happiness and Finding your own voice. Find out more at daringtobeourselves.com.

Finally, I've been steering clear of any talk about New Year's resolutions until now - you probably have plenty of that rattling around in your brain on your own. But at this point, maybe you're ready to consider an alternative if you're ready to get healthier. Dr. Sharon Ufberg has more in the latest edition of Alive and Kicking.
