10,000 SNAP Recipients In Western Mass. Could Lose Benefits Under New Trump Rule

    The Trump administration Wednesday tightened the work requirements for food stamp benefits.

       Anti-hunger activists in Massachusetts decried the change.

     The new rule makes it more difficult for states to waive a requirement that an able-bodied adult without children must work at least 20 hours a week or lose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

      WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Christina Maxwell, Director of Programs for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
