Ex-Congresswoman Hayworth Makes Comeback Try Official

Former Republican Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, who lost her Hudson Valley seat to Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney in 2012, has ended months of speculation and announced she try to win back the seat this fall.

In a fundraising email sent Wednesday afternoon, Hayworth writes:

This Sunday it's official - I'm running again to represent the people of the 18th District in Congress!

I've spent the last 14 months touring our District, speaking to families and individuals who want change, people who want a representative in Congress who will speak for them, work for them, and never forget the principles that make this country great.

In the long days ahead, I want you to know this: I will fight for you and your families each and every day of this campaign.

Hayworth, who reportedly has about $500,000 in campaign cash already on hand, lost a bitter race to Maloney after one term in Congress.
