Assistant Morning Edition Producer

Jesse King has been WAMC’s Assistant Morning Edition Producer since December 2018. A graduate of SUNY Oneonta, King first joined the WAMC newsroom as an intern in September 2018. She grew up an avid writer and radio-nerd in Apalachin, New York, and spent much of college managing WONY 90.9 FM, contributing to the student-run podcast, Oneonta Voices, and interning with Phoenix FM in Dublin, Ireland. She holds a BA in Music Industry and Mass Communications, and plays the fiddle in her free time.

Volunteers and staff at Historic Cherry Hill in Albany’s South End have been struggling to restore the colonial home of the Van Rensselaer family for years. But there is hope renovations will be done by the end of the year. The museum opens for behind-the-scenes restoration tours in May.

Ben Simmons had a triple-double of 18 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds as the 76ers outscored the Nets, 145-123. The All-Star guard was 8-for-12 from the floor, two days after hearing boos while scoring nine points on 4 of 9 shooting. The Sixers busted the game open with a 14-0 run to start the second half and led by 29 before the third quarter was over. Joel Embiid delivered 13 of his 23 points in the third period and finished with 10 boards.

The comeback is complete. Tiger Woods has his fifth Masters title. The 43-year-old Woods shot a 2-under 70 for one-stroke victory and his 15th major championship. But it was his first since the 2008 U.S. Open, capping a remarkable recovery from debilitating injuries and embarrassing personal problems.


Students on campuses across the country are walking “Out of the Darkness” to fundraise for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the latest road team to open the Stanley Cup playoffs with a victory. Mitch Marner scored twice and Frederik Andersen made 37 saves as the Leafs downed the Bruins, 4-1 in Boston.

The Islanders blew three leads before Josh Bailey scored off a rebound 4:39 into overtime to give New York a 4-3 victory over the Penguins. Nick Leddy tallied with 7:25 remaining to put the Isles ahead 3-2, but the Pens extended the game on Justin Schultz's goal about six minutes later. Jordan Eberle had a goal and an assist for the Islanders, who host Game 2 on Friday.

Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox blanketed Fenway Park with pieces of the city's championship past to welcome the newest members of their World Series title club. It wasn't enough to ward off another setback for a team yet to resemble the one that hoisted the trophy last year. Chris Sale let a Toronto runner steal home , Mookie Betts fanned with two on for the final out and the Red Sox stumbled again, losing to the Blue Jays 7-5 Tuesday in their home opener.
