In the wake of the election of Donald Trump and subsequent protests, SUNY Plattsburgh Police are reassuring students and staff that they are taking any potential concerns seriously.
An email circulated to the campus community by University Police and obtained by WAMC cites rumors of hate groups including KKK patrols operating in the Plattsburgh area and social media trolls causing concern.

Campus police say they have reached out to law enforcement partners in the area including the FBI and have determined there is no evidence confirming KKK or white supremacist hate group activity in the North Country.

The college is advising anyone who encounters hate speech on social media to remain calm and unfriend, ignore or if possible report the abuse.
