WAMC's Dr. Alan Chartock discusses the race by U.S. and European leaders to defuse the crisis at the Russian-Ukraine border, former President Donald Trump’s continuing control over the national Republican Party and the ongoing investigations into the former president.

Dr. Chartock also previews the 2022 mid-term elections and the push by Democrats to maintain hold key gubernatorial seats and the reopening of a bridge at a U.S.-Canada border crossing late Sunday after protests against COVID-19 restrictions closed it for almost a week.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
