The National Transportation Safety Board on Thursday issued its final report on the 2018 fatal limousine crash in Schoharie, New York. In September, the agency voted to finalize its investigation into the crash that killed 20 people.

In October 2018, a modified 2001 Ford Excursion stretch limo hurtled down a hill and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle and came to rest in a ravine. The driver, all 17 passengers, and two pedestrians were killed. The NTSB says the limo was going more than 100 miles per hour before reaching the intersection of Routes 30 and 30A.

NTSB criticized Prestige Limousine for operating the vehicle, Mavis Discount Tire for giving the limo an inspection sticker despite not having the authority to do so, and New York state for not taking the vehicle off the road following numerous violations. The New York State DOT and DMV said they exercised the full authority granted to them under the law and ordered the limo off the road multiple times, but Prestige repeatedly violated state law.

The operator of Prestige Limousine is facing manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide charges.
